Os ofrecemos un viaje al corazón de las antiguas tradiciones cristianas. Siglos de aislamiento en tierras alejadas de la cristiandad mediterránea le han dado a Etiopía un sello muy especial. En este país se vive la religión con una intensidad ya olvidada en Occidente. Su fiesta religiosa más conocida y representativa es la Epifanía, llamada Timkat. Se conmemora el bautismo de Cristo en el Jordán. La fiesta comienza con procesiones del santo Tabot, réplica de las Tablas de la Ley. Por la noche los salmos y cánticos litúrgicos crean un ambiente mágico. Las autoridades eclesiásticas con vistosos ropajes se reúnen y rocían el agua bendita sobre la multitud en un bautismo colectivo. El tercer día está dedicado a san Mikael y a Canaán de Galilea conmemorando el conocido primer milagro que realizó Jesús en las Bodas de Canaán, donde transformó el agua en vino. En este itinerario visitamos extensamente el norte del país y las insólitas iglesias de Lalibela en su mayor fiesta anual, así podemos comprender la singular idiosincrasia etíope, sin duda única en el mundo, ninguna otra región se parece a Etiopía.
